The severe climate and logistical challenges posed by the arctic location of this project encouraged practical design solutions that maximize the ease of assembly of components on the site.
DGH Engineering provided complete architectural, structural and interior design services for this project.This operations centre in Repulse Bay on the arctic circle is being built by the local Co-op under a lease agreement with Parks Canada.
The facility design, which will accommodate personnel and equipment for the new Ukkusiksalik national park, includes an attractive tourist reception centre, pleasant living quarters for personnel, and a pracitcal maintenance facility for boats, snowmobiles and all-terrain vehicles.
